fter
the first year of study, students may apply to study in one of the consortium's
foreign programs for a full semester.
THE UNIVERSITY OF AARHUS
The University of Aarhus is the second oldest and second largest university in Denmark. It has formal co-operation agreements with more than 260 educational institutions in Europe alone, and is in contact with approximately 500 institutions worldwide. The Law School is engaged in more than 40 bilateral agreements with European and American Law Schools. It should be noted that a Danish university education is not a "guided tour". It is up to the individual student to get the most out of what is offered. Individual studies and participation in informal study groups with fellow students are encouraged. A distinctive feature is an academic environment, which may seem informal to foreign students. Professors and other staff members chat informally with the students and associate with them during breaks.
The University of Leiden, The Netherlands

Another
study abroad option, The
University Leiden, was founded in 1575 and currently has an
enrollment exceeding 15,000 students. It is a fully accredited, autonomous,
government-financed university. The Leiden University School of Law is
the largest in the Netherlands, with approximately 5000 law students enrolled
in the various undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs offered
by the law school. The Unviersiteit Leiden offers a renowned tax program
that is considered among the best in the world. The full-time law faculty
numbers over 300 and is one of eight faculties that constitute the university.
International Criminal Process Clinic
The Intership in the Hague
Students who have completed at least 45 credit hours may apply for this academic internship at The Hague in The Netherlands while they are students in the Leiden Semester Abroad Program or during the summer session (not taking classes at Leiden). Students work under the tutelage of defenders or prosecutors involved with the United Nations' Ad Hoc International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Sixty hours of work are required for each credit hour received and students must apply to Assistant Dean Elizabeth Dennis for approval prior to registration for the internship. The ICTY internship application can be found at http://www.adcicty.com/internapp.htm. A separate application for admission and housing is required for the Leiden semester abroad program and can be found at www.leidenuniv.nl
If you have questions about the International Criminal Process Clinic, contact Assistant Dean Elizabeth Dennis at 713-646-1748 or by e-mail at edennis@stcl.edu.
